Florida wrongful death intake information for families
If your family is dealing with a death after an incident in Florida, an intake request should be the least demanding part of your day. This guide explains the small amount of information that helps, and what we do and do not do with it.
Not legal advice. AnswerSignalApp is not a law firm. This page explains what information is useful for an intake request. It does not describe legal rights, deadlines, penalties, or outcomes.
First, what this page is not
This page does not explain who may bring a claim in Florida, what damages exist, what any deadline is, or what a matter might be worth. Those are legal questions, and AnswerSignalApp is not a law firm and does not answer them. What we can do is describe, honestly, the short set of facts that makes an intake request reviewable, so that no family has to guess at a form after a loss.
What tends to help an intake request
- The date of the incident, approximate if that is easier.
- The Florida location. City or county is enough. Region matters because participating lawyers cover different parts of the state.
- The general type of incident. For example a vehicle crash, a commercial vehicle crash, an incident on someone's property, a workplace incident, or an incident involving care or supervision. Everyday language is fine.
- Your relationship to the person who died, or your role if you are helping the family.
- Whether any official response occurred. Whether law enforcement responded, whether you were told a report exists, or whether an investigation is open. A yes or no is enough.
- Whether anyone has already contacted the family — an insurer, an investigator, a company representative. Note that it happened; do not paste correspondence.
- Representation status. Whether the family already has a lawyer for this matter.
- Contact preference. How and when it is realistic to reach you, including if you would rather be emailed than called.
You do not need to write a narrative of the loss. Two or three sentences is a complete request for our purposes.
What AnswerSignalApp does with it
We review the request against non-legal intake factors — completeness, Florida geography, general matter type, representation status, contactability, and general timing context — and then apply compliance and eligibility checks. Where a participating lawyer lawfully permitted to practice law in Florida is eligible and available for that matter type and region, the request may be introduced to that lawyer. The lawyer independently decides whether to make contact, and their location is disclosed when a connection is made. The full factor list is on the how intake works page.
What AnswerSignalApp does not do
- We do not decide who is entitled to bring a claim, assess legal merit or fault, estimate value or recovery, or predict outcomes.
- We do not request records, contact institutions or insurers, obtain autopsy or medical information, or investigate anything.
- We do not provide legal advice, and no submission creates an attorney-client relationship.
- We do not guarantee that a lawyer will contact the family or accept the matter, and no lawyer is retained merely because a form was submitted.
- We claim no Florida Bar endorsement, and we publish no results, testimonials, rankings, or awards.
Please leave sensitive documents out
Do not submit Social Security numbers, medical record numbers, images of a death certificate or identity documents, insurance policy or member numbers, financial account numbers, or passwords. Estate and probate paperwork is also unnecessary at intake. If a document ever becomes relevant, it will be handled privately with a lawyer you choose to speak with, not through a web form.
If your family already has a lawyer
Tell us, and we will stop there. We do not route a matter a consumer or family says is already represented, and we will not contact the existing lawyer for you. If you have concerns about the representation, raise them with that lawyer directly.
Pace and pressure
There is no countdown on this site and no pressure from us. You can submit a request now, later, or not at all, and you can ask us to stop pursuing a request at any point. If a participating lawyer contacts you, you decide whether to speak with them and whether to continue. If anyone ever tells you that AnswerSignalApp promised a result or a specific amount, that is not true and we would want to know about it.
After submission
You will see a confirmation that the request was received. Some requests are not connected — because a region or matter type is not currently covered, because a request is incomplete, or because the matter is already represented. We would rather tell families that plainly than imply every request finds a lawyer.
Choose one practical point of contact
An intake request works best when one person provides a phone number or email they can reliably answer and states their relationship to the person who died. That does not decide who may act for an estate or who may bring any claim. It simply gives the intake review a workable contact. We do not call other relatives unless the submitter asks us to include them.
Keep sensitive identifiers out of your request
Share only what is needed for an intake review. Please do not submit Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, medical record numbers, insurance member IDs, financial account numbers, passwords, or images of identity documents. If a participating lawyer needs additional detail, they can request it directly through their own secure process.
Already represented by a lawyer?
If you tell us you already have a lawyer for this matter, we do not route the matter to another participating lawyer, and we will not contact your current lawyer for you. Any questions about your current representation belong with your current lawyer.
Internal editorial review: this page was reviewed internally by the AnswerSignalApp team for consumer-safety wording and intake clarity. It is not legal advice, it was not reviewed or approved by an attorney, and it does not describe legal rights, deadlines, or outcomes. Last internally reviewed: August 2026.
When your family is ready, you can submit a request
Requests are reviewed for possible connection to a participating Florida attorney. Not every request results in a connection, and nothing obligates you to hire anyone.
AnswerSignalApp is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Submitting a request does not create an attorney-client relationship, and no lawyer is selected or retained by submitting the form. 24/7 refers to intake submission availability only. A participating lawyer's contact is not guaranteed, is not immediate, and no lawyer is standing by.

Florida wrongful death intake FAQ
- Who can submit a wrongful death intake request?
- Anyone can submit a request describing the situation, including a family member or someone helping the family. We do not determine who is legally entitled to bring a claim; that is a legal question for a lawyer.
- What information helps this kind of intake request?
- The date and Florida location of the incident, the general type of incident, your relationship to the person who died, whether any investigation or report exists, whether the family is already represented, and how and when to contact you.
- Does AnswerSignalApp evaluate whether a family has a claim?
- No. We do not assess legal merit, entitlement, case value, or likely recovery. We review non-legal intake factors only, and any legal evaluation happens directly between the family and a lawyer.
- What should not be included in the request?
- Do not submit Social Security numbers, medical record numbers, death certificate images, insurance or financial account numbers, passwords, or identity documents. A short written description is enough for intake.
- What if the family already has a lawyer?
- Say so in the request. We do not route a matter that is described as already represented, and we will not contact the family's current lawyer.
