Level I and Level II, in FLHSMV's words
FLHSMV describes DUI programs as nonprofit organizations that provide drug and alcohol education to satisfy judicial and driver-licensing requirements. It describes two courses: Level I for first-time offenders and Level II for persons with multiple offenses. Florida Statutes section 322.292 says DUI programs must be operated by governmental entities or not-for-profit corporations, and that DUI education courses must be taught by a certified DUI instructor in a classroom with face-to-face instruction rather than over the Internet, by home study or by distance learning.
Which course applies, and whether a particular format satisfies your individual requirement, should be confirmed with the licensed program and checked against your own court or licensing paperwork and your FLHSMV status. This page does not promise that any course meets your requirement.
Before you enroll: what to confirm
- The program appears on the current FLHSMV licensed DUI programs directory.
- Whether your paperwork calls for Level I or Level II.
- Which county or counties the program serves.
- Whether an evaluation is required and how it is scheduled.
- The physical classroom location and delivery format.
- Class schedule and how many sessions there are.
- Current fees, asked directly of the program.
- Documents to bring.
- Language or accessibility accommodations you may need.
- How completion is recorded and how you get proof of it.
- Whether you have separate treatment or ignition interlock obligations.
Related but separate requirements
DUI education, the DUI evaluation, any treatment referral, ignition interlock device (IID) requirements, court-ordered conditions and driver-license reinstatement are related but distinct. Completing one does not necessarily satisfy another. FLHSMV's DUI and IID overview is the official starting point; a licensed Florida lawyer can explain how court conditions apply to you.
If you also want a defense lawyer
Enrolling in a program is separate from your criminal case. The Florida DUI help page and the DUI and arrest guide explain what a defense intake request asks for, and the DUI intake information page covers what to leave out. Submitting a request is optional and does not retain a lawyer.

Keep sensitive identifiers out of your request
Share only what is needed for an intake review. Please do not submit Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, medical record numbers, insurance member IDs, financial account numbers, passwords, or images of identity documents. If a participating lawyer needs additional detail, they can request it directly through their own secure process.
Already represented by a lawyer?
If you tell us you already have a lawyer for this matter, we do not route the matter to another participating lawyer, and we will not contact your current lawyer for you. Any questions about your current representation belong with your current lawyer.
Editorial note: compiled from the linked official government and federal sources — the FLHSMV licensed DUI programs directory and DUI/IID overview, and Florida Statutes section 322.292 as published by the Florida Legislature. County section headings were checked against the FLHSMV directory on the review date; program names, fees and schedules are deliberately not copied here. It was not written or reviewed by a lawyer or a medical professional and is not legal or medical advice. Rely on the official agencies and on licensed professionals for current instructions. Last internally reviewed: October 13, 2026.
Facing a Florida DUI charge? Submit a defense intake request.
Requests are reviewed for possible connection to a participating Florida attorney. Not every request results in a connection, and nothing obligates you to hire anyone.
AnswerSignalApp is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Submitting a request does not create an attorney-client relationship, and no lawyer is selected or retained by submitting the form. 24/7 refers to intake submission availability only. A participating lawyer's contact is not guaranteed, is not immediate, and no lawyer is standing by.

Florida licensed DUI program FAQ
- Is an "approved DUI class" the same as an FLHSMV-licensed DUI program?
- People often search for approved DUI classes. Florida's official source, the FLHSMV directory, lists FLHSMV-licensed DUI programs. Use that official directory rather than a search ad or a commercial course listing to check whether a program is licensed.
- What is the difference between Level I and Level II?
- FLHSMV describes Level I as the course for first-time offenders and Level II as the course for persons with multiple offenses. Which level applies to you comes from your own court or licensing paperwork, not from this page.
- Can I take a Florida DUI education course online?
- Florida Statutes section 322.292(4) says DUI education courses must be conducted by a certified DUI instructor in a classroom using face-to-face instruction, and may not be conducted via the Internet, home study, distance learning or similar methods. Confirm the current delivery format with the licensed program and against your own paperwork and FLHSMV status.
- Does being listed here mean AnswerSignalApp recommends a program?
- No. This finder only points you to the official FLHSMV directory for your county. It is not a recommendation, ranking, endorsement, paid placement or legal advice, and it does not list program names, fees or schedules.
